What Somtow Papinian Sucharitkul perhaps didn`t read

June 14, 2010

There`s this thing about CNN that we may call middle of the road credibility. It is still very American, despite people`s perception that the channel is “international”. But this is beside the point. The fact is people “tend to believe it”. Simply, it has a clout, as have Fox News or BBC (for different reasons, still). People would nod their heads if being told that CNN is biased, but would still watch it.
The real tragedy is several dozens of people died, mostly civilians who were generally speaking culpable of nothing more than being at the wrong place in the wrong time. How many of them were “terrorists”..? Yes, both the red shirts and government are guilty of fractious rhetorics, but no one truly civilized can really enjoy seeing army in the streets at the end of the day. There is a long way to go before red shirts become a Thai equivalent of IRA…
(I really liked Mae Naak: Act III – Let Me Stay in the Twilight, thank you putting it online).
