What do Thai government officials and Somtow Sucharitkul want?

“He said the terrorism charges would “clarify” to the international community Thailand’s position on Thaksin.” (Reuters)

What is Panithan talking about? Or is it Reuters, who muddled up the statement?

“Thai people should speak up and spread as much correct and balanced information as possible to the world. The problem is that there are not enough people doing that. If you start watching something and question it, you should say so,” said writer and music conductor Somtow Sucharitkul.
“We are not just fighting against [those in] the media that give distorted stories. We are also battling the perception of how developed countries see developing countries,” he said at a forum held at the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication at Thammasat University. (The Nation)

Not enough people? What? The problem is khun Somtow thinks the fraction of Thai population that watches CNN is as much enraged as several hundred weirdoes who feel offended that somebody dares to see them for what they are. CNN hasn’t mentioned weapons, Al Jazeera has? Does Somsak from Nong Khai care? And Lalida from Sakhon Nakhon? And? And? No, they don’t. But khun Somtow does. He feels belittled by distorted and crappy reporting.

Good grief! All gone ting-tong…
